Finding Formal Dress Online

A big occasion is coming up and can’t decide on which dress to buy? There are many styles, colors and cuts available for formal dresses but one has to choose carefully in order to look fabulous. The most important factor in choosing a dress is the choice of appropriate fabric which not only suits the occasion but also flatters your natural body shape.

The most commonly used fabric for a formal dress is silk, as it is both classy and elegant. The shimmery look and the soft texture of the fabric make it the best option for a traditional flowing gown or a stylish short evening dress. Some embroidery and sequin work on a silk formal dress make sure that you look ravishing on any occasion you wear the dress.

Another choice of fabric for a formal dress is chiffon. It is very light fabric and usually used for making long dresses and gowns.

A Chiffon gown can be made in a variety of colors as the fabric can be easily dyed so there are hundreds of different shades to choose from.

Chiffon is a light fabric so it needs to be stitched with a lining of a thicker fabric as opposed to the silk gowns that need no such additions. The best aspect of a chiffon dress is that it is light and breezy so it can be tailored for semi formal events as well whereas silk is usually worn at more formal events.

Other fabrics such as Organza and Satin are also available in formal gowns but they are not as popular or elegant as Silk and Chiffon. A remarkable formal dress can be made by creating a mix of these fabrics so that they complement each other and create dazzling effects.

For winter season, the most obvious choice of fabric for a 2012 formal dress is velvet or brocade. Velvet is thick and has a very smooth folded texture which makes it perfect for long gowns. Brocade is also an option for winter dresses as floral patterns on it which makes it perfect for sequin work.
